| Our Mission Our mission is to promote sustainable urban landscaping to provide a healthy environment for future generations. Our environmental designs embrace the integration of the beauty and harmony of nature into our lives to rediscover a healthier way of living. At AY Sustainable Landscape Design, we understand the synergistic relationship between beauty, sustainability, and health. These aren’t conflicting elements that need to be balanced, but rather principals that can work in harmony to create a sustainable landscape that inspires and refreshes our soul and recharges our life energy.
Guillermo Yanes, Master Gardener, is the principal landscape designer. He has designed many beautiful landscapes for homeowners and commercial properties in California, Oregon, and Washington State. He understands the principles of sustainable landscape design and believes in bringing those principles into his clients' lives to make their world a better place to live. Lisa Austin, a licensed environmental engineer, assists Guillermo with drainage issues and erosion control. She also believes that everyone can do their part to improve the water quality and habitat in our everyday urban environment through implementing sustainable landscape principals into everyday spaces. |

| Company History Guillermo Yanes has been designing beautiful gardens since he was a little boy in El Salvador. In 2004, Guillermo and Lisa started AY Sustainable Landscape Design in order to promote their ideal of a sustainable urban environment at the lot level - in everyday life. The company was formed in Portland, Oregon, and recently relocated to California. Our clients are located in Portland, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay area. Our project experience includes many fabulous landscape designs that incorporate water conservation principles, improved drainage design, runoff storage for irrigation, the use of amended soils to promote healthy gardens, and the use of native and/or climate-appropriate plant pallettes. |
